Allen D. Powers, Jr., age 77 of Kiwanis Manor, Tiffin, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
He was born on July 7, 1932 to the late Allen D. and Della (Vanover) Powers, Sr. in Wise, Va. Allen married Velma Perrine in 1970 in Wise Va. and she died in 1998.
Allen is survived by three sons, Garry Powers of Delaware, Larry Powers and Paul Powers both of Fremont; four daughters, Pamela (Robby) Baker of Tiffin, Cherie Jones of Amarillo, Tex., Debbie Myers of Fremont, and Bridget Powers of Tiffin; three step sons, Tony Firestone of Tiffin, Steve Firestone of Monroeville, and John Firestone of Findlay, five step daughters, Diane Monaco of Tiffin, Christina Fourtner of Bloomville, Linda Hodge of McCutchenville, Roxanne Askam of Tiffin and Robin Surface of Missouri, 45 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a brother Clarence, and two sisters, Okla and Emma.
Allen served in the United States Army from 1952-1954, during the Korean War. He retired as a molder from Webster Manufacturing Company, Tiffin. Allen was a member of Eighth Avenue Freewill Baptist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday April 5, 2010 at Eighth Avenue Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Cliff Tyree officiating. There will be no visitation.
