Rita M. (Ball) Bentz

Rita M. Bentz, 89, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully with her children at her side, January 4, 2019.  She was born September 24, 1929, in Bloomville, to John and Rose (Danamiller) Ball.  She married Paul Bentz, November 27, 1952, at St. Steven’s Catholic Church, Bloomville.
Survivors include, a son, Thomas Bentz of Columbus, four daughters, Christine Tasch of Pickerington, Rose (Larry) Wieber of Blaine, Wash., Judy McGee of Tiffin, and Connie (William) Sprunk of Owenton, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Gertrude Durnwald of New Washington;  a brother-in-law Hank (Ruth) Bentz and a sister-in-law, Betty Ott both of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul, a granddaughter, Sheila Tasch, and three sisters, Victoria Schoen, Irene Frost and Alma Weisenauer and a brother, Herbert Ball.

Rita was a 1947 Bloomville High School graduate.  She retired as a school bus driver for Tiffin City school in 1989 after 19 years of employment.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, the Moose Lodge, Allen Eiry Senior Center, and the Kiwanis Manor.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113. A wake service will be at 3:30 at the funeral home.

Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church.  Rev. Gary Walters will officiate.  The rosary will be recited at the church 20 minutes prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will take place following the service in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Promedica Hospice or to St. Mary Catholic Church.
