Richard L. Smith, 51, of Tiffin, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, in the Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital Emergency Room.  He was born December 30, 1966, in Tiffin to Alan P. and Janice M. (Graham) Smith, and they survive in Heath, Ohio.

Other survivors include a son, Jack Smith of Tiffin; four daughters, Stephanie R. (Scott) Ferguson , Vicky (Derek) Goodale, Elizabeth Smith and Regina Smith all of Tiffin; a close companion, Cynthia Boyd of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Maxwell, Elijah and Oliver Ferguson, Bailey and Jovie Goodale; two brothers, Leonard (Rachel) Smith of Lockport N.Y. Pete (E.B.) Smith of Granville; two sisters, Mary Lou (Robert) Baker of Mansfield, and Tonia (Chris) May of Heath; and nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Victoria Smith, maternal grandparents,  Leonard C. Graham and Mary (Keefe) Graham and paternal grandparents, Margaret Sloma Smith and Richard J. Smith.

Richard was a 1984 graduate of Newark Catholic High School.  He was the circulation operations manager at the Advertiser-Tribune, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and its Tuesday night Bowling League and Golf League and a member of Seneca Hills Golf Club.  He was very proud of his children and all of their accomplishments.  Richard always made his family a priority including his 25 years of sobriety.  He gave of himself to the very end as he was an organ/tissue donor.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113 with a Wake service at 8 p.m.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.  Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
