John Michael Bommarito, 75, of Lima, Ohio, formerly of Clyde, Ohio, died at 6:43 pm Friday, December 15, 2017, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born August 29, 1942, in Detroit MI, to Charles and Carmella Bommarito and was happily married to his wife Trudy Bommarito for 48 years.

Surviving are his wife, Trudy; children, Wendy Vachon of Mansfield, Conn., Tony (Krista) Bommarito of Mason, Ohio, Laura (James Kramer) Bommarito of Independence, Ky., Deanna (Gary) Reinhart of Jenera, Ohio, and Jon (Jennifer) Bommarito of Worthington, Ohio;10 grandchildren, Michelle Canulli, Alain Vachon, Suzanne Vachon, Nikola Bommarito, Dominic Bommarito, Quinn Reinhart, Kariana Kramer, Hannah Reinhart, Evan Reinhart, and Gavin Bommarito; two great grand-daughters, Lexi and Lily Canulli;  a sister, Antoinette (Pam) Loose of Lima; and his beloved furry companion,  Petey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers in law, Tony Plazar and William Loose, mother in law Anna Plazar, father in law Anton Plazar, and sister in law Mary Plazar.

John served in the US Army, and enjoyed a successful career for many companies in the area.  He retired in 2010 from NAMSA.  He also worked at Ameriwood, Therm-O-Disc, and Eaton.  He served on the board for the Sandusky County Regional Airport and Green Creek Twp. He had also been an Athletic Director for St. Mary’s School in Clyde, Ohio.

In addition to being a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and brother, John enjoyed golfing and was an avid University of Michigan football fan and all around sports fan.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 20, 2017, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at the funeral home.  Rev. Anthony Coci will officiate and the Seneca County United Veterans will perform military rites at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to the American Heart Association.
