Wade G. Roby, 81, of Tiffin, Ohio, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Heritage Village Nursing, Clyde, Ohio.

He was born Nov. 27, 1933 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Lester L. and Mae (Grose) Roby, Sr.  He married Janet A. Kapp on June 12, 1955, at Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin.

Surviving are his wife, Jan Roby, a daughter, Brenda (Dennis) Conzett of Grayling, Mich; a son, Wade Eric Roby of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, four nephews and four nieces.

Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother, Les Roby, Jr., and a sister, Rosemary Lancaster.

Wade was a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, class of 1952, earned a B.A. from Heidelberg College 1961, and then earned three advanced degrees from Bowling Green State University, M. Ed. 1964, Ed. S. 1982 and Ph.D. 1985.

Wade taught students to learn from kindergarten through graduate school.  He was an assistant High School Principal, a Principal, a Curriculum Director, an Administrative Assistant and a Superintendent of Schools in three different states: Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky.  His first love was that of coaching.  He was head football and track coach at Mohawk High School, Sycamore, Ohio. He was an assistant football coach to the late Paul Hoernemann at Heidelberg College.  He accepted the head position of football, wrestling and track coach at Hanover College, Hanover, Indiana and later an assistant football coach at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. He also coached the South squad in the North/South game of Indiana in 1967.

Wade and Jan had traveled extensively during their 60 years of marriage.  They had been to all 48 states of the continental United States, all provinces of Canada, with the exception of Manitoba, ten islands of the Caribbean, Grand Cayman, Japan, Africa and 20 countries of Europe.

He was a Korean War Army Veteran having served 19 months in Toul, France during 1953 and 1954. He was a member of the Tiffin Elks Lodge #94, having served as a member of the Board of Trustees, member of the Tiffin Eagles Club, the Cotillion Club, and a member of the Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, officiated by Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, and military rites will be conducted by the United Veterans Council during services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heidelberg University or to the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Toledo, Ohio and Ann Arbor, Mich. in care of the funeral home.
